Who we are

Unicine is a student-led nonprofit at McGovern Medical School (UTHealth). We don’t just donate devices; we solve specific healthcare crises.

We identify a critical gap—like maternal mortality in Niger—and fundraise for the exact, life-saving tools needed to fix it. We are currently partnering with Maranatha Health Institute to equip midwives with the tools to save lives in the critical “First Hour” of childbirth.

Why we do it

Over 1 billion people lack access to basic healthcare, often because they simply live in the wrong place. We exist to level the playing field. By equipping local clinicians in underserved communities with essential life-saving tools, we ensure that preventable complications don’t become fatal.

How we do it

Unicine partners with nonprofits, clinics, and schools to deliver medical equipment tailored to underserved communities. Our long-term follow-up includes ongoing donations, field volunteering, and continued support to ensure lasting impact.

Our work relies on generous contributions—both monetary and medical equipment—along with creative fundraisers like badge reel and matcha sales hosted at the Texas Medical Center, the largest in the world.
